Church of the Cross is a spiritual community of openness, hospitality, learning and care for others in the Spirit of Jesus, with a Lutheran emphasis on grace – meaning how “God so loves the  world” and how that frees us to do the same. Jesus’ invitation is for everyone – Come and see!

At the crossroads of Lent…
Christ empties himself of divine power and protection, willingly becoming vulnerable to those who struck him and put him to death. With Christ we lament his suffering and all human suffering, but expect God’s final vindication. Mark’s passion story begins with an unnamed woman anointing his head, perhaps to proclaim him Messiah, and Jesus saying she has anointed him beforehand for burial. Welcome God’s living Anointed One. Welcome all!

Welcome All!

We gather on the traditional territory of the Lkwungen people, and the Songees, Esquimalt and Wsanec peoples
whose historical relationships to this land continue to this day.
