Lutheran Church of the Cross is an affirming congregation located at the crossroads of Cedar Hill Road and Cedar Hill Cross Road, near residential neighbourhoods, bustling Shelbourne Street, and blocks from Unversity of Victoria. We are mindful of the diversity of our neighbourhoods in the ways in which we embody and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
On Sundays at 10 AM PT you can expect worship that is liturgical, with prayer, song, and reflection on the readings. We lift up the participation of our wider community inviting children, youth, students, younger adults, families, and seniors, to participate in the fullness of worship as readers and assistants. We value the place of music and give it the attention it deserves through the work of our cantor/music director, choral scholars, musicians, and choir. Our pastors and readers use microphones so that everyone can better hear and more fully participate in worship. We leave space in our aisles so that people with wheelchairs and walkers can navigate their way through the worship space.
As Lutherans we believe in salvation by grace through faith. We are saved by the free gift of grace from a loving God. We receive this grace as embodied creatures, nourished by the waters of the baptismal font, gathering for a common meal around the altar each Sunday.
Church of the Cross welcomes people where they are in their faith journey.
